Dr. Liviu Mugurel Bosînceanu was the first thoracic surgeon in Romania to use laser in thoracic surgery for minimally invasive excision of metastatic lung lesions, in 2013, and subsequently gathered extensive expertise in this type of intervention.
In 2019, he again achieved a first in his career, performing an intervention for pleural mesothelioma that consisted of cytoreductive surgery followed by pleural lavage with hyperthermic chemotherapy solution (HITHOC) and currently has the greatest experience in Romania in this type of intervention. In the same year, Dr. Bosînceanu was the first thoracic surgeon in the country to perform a pulmonary lobectomy and mediastinal lymphadenectomy for lung cancer using the da Vinci Xi robotic platform, gathering a significant number of complex cases since then.
Since December 2021, together with Dr. Diego Gonzalez Rivas, he has established the first Uniportal Robotic Thoracic Surgery Center in Bucharest.
At this time, Dr. Bosînceanu's surgical activity is carried out in a proportion of over 95% by using the robotic platform and minimally invasive techniques in order to minimize surgical trauma on patients and to ensure them the best chance of defeating the disease.
Among the interventions that Dr. Liviu Mugurel Bosînceanu performs at MEMORIAL Hospital Băneasa are: HITHOC, robotic pulmonary lobectomies and segmentectomies, robotic bronchial sleeve or double sleeve, tracheal and carina resections through classic or robotic-assisted surgery, robotic thymectomies in the subxiphoid approach, robotic esophagectomy, robotic phrenoplication, robotic rib 1 resection in thoracic outlet syndrome.
