Prof. Dr. Elvira Brătilă is a pioneer of new horizons of knowledge in several areas of expertise, her professional activity bringing together the entire spectrum of surgical techniques: from vaginal surgery, to classical surgery and minimally invasive surgery. Prof. Dr. Elvira Brătilă uses innovative surgical techniques (minimally invasive, laparoscopic or robotic surgery) in over 95% of the surgical interventions she performs in the field of gynecological oncology, endometriosis surgery and other complex uro-gynecological pathologies.
Prof. Dr. Elvira Brătilă is the first gynecological surgeon to introduce robotic surgery in gynecology in Romania, through the da Vinci robotic platform, the most advanced technology of the moment.
In the treatment of cervical cancer, he is the first surgeon in Romania to perform pelvic lymphadenectomy, followed by radical trachelectomy – excision of the cervix with the surrounding tissue – exclusively through a minimally invasive approach.
The doctor has been performing conservative surgery for cervical cancer since 2006, performing the intervention vaginally that year, with laparoscopic lymphadenectomy.
Since 2014, he has performed the totally laparoscopic intervention.
Since 2017, with the introduction of robotic surgery through the Da Vinci Xi platform, the surgeon opens a new path: conservative cervical cancer surgery performed robotically, facilitated by the sentinel node technique.
In the surgical treatment of endometrial cancer, Prof. Dr. Elvira Brătilă has also brought progress, through the predictive therapeutic approach, the technique of highlighting and evaluating the sentinel node. The therapeutic attitude in treating this type of cancer has evolved, from the old custom that any cancer must first be irradiated and then operated, to the therapeutic approach through minimally invasive surgery in stages I, II and even III.
As a founding member of the Eastern European Society of Endometriosis and Fertility, Prof. Dr. Elvira Brătilă brought to the forefront a new concept in endometriosis surgery: Endomedicare Academy, the first endometriosis academy in Romania, a multidisciplinary space of expertise and ultra-specialized medical opinion in the diagnosis, treatment and surgery of endometriosis, showing a special interest in the minimally invasive approach to pathology and in scientific research into the etiopathogenesis of the disease.
In the gynecological pathology of benign tumors, Prof. Dr. Elvira Brătilă performs the diagnosis, treatment and surgery of benign tumors, emphasizing minimally invasive surgery of uterine fibroids, through robotic myomectomy, which represents the most advanced minimally invasive approach.
President of the Romanian Society of Urogynecology, with over 15 years of clinical experience in the field of urogynecology and knowledge gained through completing over 40 national and international courses, Prof. Dr. Elvira Brătilă is among the few gynecological surgeons with expertise in this area related to gynecology, being a promoter of complex interventions and innovative therapeutic procedures in the treatment of urinary incontinence and utero-vaginal prolapse.
Since 2019, Prof. Dr. Elvira Brătilă has been opening the premises of a new field: gynecological aesthetics. The doctor performs reconstructive surgery in urogenital malformations, interventions to restore the urogenital tract, and restoration of a normal appearance of the vulva and vagina in cases of malformations, obstetric post-traumas, or specific pathology.
